Reduce the Spread of COVID-19 with Exposure Notifications through WA Notify

Knowing when you’ve been exposed to someone with COVID-19 allows you to test, isolate and protect those around you, ultimately reducing the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of Health (DOH) developed WA Notify, a tool that allows users to anonymously report and receive exposure notifications. WA Notify is free, completely private and does not track your personal information or location.

Recently, DOH shared a compelling WA Notify story in their blog, “WA Notify continues to be a powerful tool to protect Washingtonians against COVID-19.” This story features a woman who received an exposure notification days before she planned to stay with family members who were at increased risk of developing severe illness from COVID-19. The app allowed her to test and isolate prior to the onset of her symptoms and prevented her from exposing members of her household and extended family.

How do I use WA Notify?

WA Notify is a free tool that works on any smartphone. On an iPhone, you can enable exposure notifications within your phone settings under “exposure notifications.” For Android users, WA Notify can be downloaded as an app from the Google Play Store. For more information about using WA Notify, visit the DOH webpage or consult this DOH guide How WA Notify Works.
