Key Messages Week of 5/11
Key Messages Week of 5/11 Safer at Home Order: The Safer at Home Order has been extended beyond May 15. Depending on the public health conditions, the City will continue to adjust the order gradually — to safely allow more activities, more businesses to operate, and more residents to get back to work.
Face coverings: Mayor Garcetti issued an order requiring residents to wear face coverings when they leave their homes. Children under 2 who are at risk for suffocation and people with certain disabilities are exempt from these requirements.
Updates for businesses and outdoor activities: All retail locations except those at indoor malls are now allowed to open for curbside and doorside pickup and delivery.
Public hiking trails are open. Beaches are open to active recreation only, such as swimming, surfing, running and walking. Parking lots, piers, beach bike paths, and concessions are not open. No gatherings are allowed, and activities like sunbathing and group sports are not permitted. City tennis and pickleball courts, archery ranges, equestrian centers, model airplane areas and community gardens at City facilities are all open.
