American Hong Kongers Support St. Jude’s Annual Walk Fundraiser
This September, Hong Kongers residing across the United States are once again joining together to participate in the nationwide St. Jude Walk/Run fundraiser organized by St. Jude Children Research Hospital. This year, Hong Kongers living in various parts of the United States are uniting once more. Currently, a nationwide team named ‘Hongkongers in the US’ has organized fifteen teams across thirteen cities in the United States, including Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Maryland, Miami, New Jersey, New York, Palm Beach, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Tampa.
【Event Details】
St. Jude Children Research Hospital in the United States holds “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” every September, and one of the highlights is the nationwide walk fundraiser at the end of September. This is the second year that the Hong Konger community in the United States has participated in the St. Jude Annual Walk Fundraiser. This participation is initiated and coordinated by the HongKonger Community Center (HKCC) and Artual Club, with several Hong Konger organizations forming regional teams to take action in supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital, raising funds for cancer research, and providing treatment for children with cancer. As of September 18th, the number of teams this year has significantly exceeded last year’s six (6) teams. The “Hongkongers in the US” team aims to participate in local charity activities in the United States as Hong Kongers, showcasing unity and care. The team looks forward to encouraging more Hong Kongers to join in the future.
【Ways to Participate】
The “Hong Kongers in the US” team calls for more people to participate in this meaningful event, collectively demonstrating our love and care. Ways to participate include:
1) Join a Team: Visit the walk fundraising event page and join the regional team that suits you. The registration fee is waived. Once you become a team member, you can create your own personal fundraising page, encourage your friends, family, and social circle members to join your team or donate to support your participation.
2) Donate to Support a Team: If you cannot personally participate in the walk event, you can still choose to support any of the “Hongkongers in US” teams in the following cities by making a donation to help them reach their fundraising goal. 【Supporting Artistic Creations】
To support the national St. Jude Walk/Run event at the end of September and raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Artual Club and a group of Hong Kong artists have designed a range of products, including T-shirts, tote bags, pins, and more. All proceeds, minus production costs, will be fully donated to St. Jude. We encourage everyone to support the creative work of Hong Kong artists and contribute to St. Jude’s mission.
