WHAT:
In honor of Operation Green Light for Veterans, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) will host a ceremony on Wednesday, November 5, at 4:15 p.m., to illuminate its City of Industry headquarters green in support of U.S. military veterans and their families making the transition to civilian life.
L.A. County is home to an estimated 250,000 military veterans, accounting for 13 percent of all current and former service members living in the State of California. From November 4-11 DPSS will amplify the message that help is available to veterans, such as food assistance, health coverage, and other safety net programs.
WHO:
DPSS Officials will join representatives with the L.A, County Departments of Military & Veteran Affairs and Mental Health, over 100 DPSS staff, and 30 of the department’s military veterans. The ceremony will also acknowledge the 20 DPSS reservists currently serving on active duty.
WHERE:
DPSS Headquarters, 12860 Crossroads Parkway South, Industry CA 91746.
WHY:
The event is part of the nationwide 2025 Operation Green Light for Veterans campaign led by the National Association of Counties to publicize resources available at the county, state, and federal levels.
DPSS will join many other government facilities illuminating their headquarters entrance green to launch Operation Green Light. By shining a green light, DPSS will let the County’s veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. The effort will also open conversations about the needs of veterans and the services that support veteran communities.
