Lucy 在 St. Jude 接受腦癌治療後返家——如今能走、能說,還能彈鋼琴

小女孩取得的康復進展,展現了她驚人的毅力,也體現了 St. Jude 專業治療的力量。 ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Lucy 如今能自信地書寫字母與數字,並且能在鋼琴上彈奏出簡單旋律。這位 6 歲的小女孩還能跑能跳,也很喜歡吃點心。 而就在幾年前,這位小女孩還無法站立、行走或說話。如今,她已是一名活潑的小學生,熱愛音樂,喜歡品嚐媽媽做的中國傳統風味佳餚,並且樂於享受每一次嶄新的體驗。 Lucy 3 歲時,醫學檢查發現她腦內長了一顆腫瘤。她被轉送至加州住家附近的兒童醫院接受手術,儘可能切除腫瘤。她被診斷出患有髓母細胞瘤,這是兒童時期最常見的惡性腦腫瘤之一。 手術隔天,Lucy 出現了後顱窩症候群 (PFS),這影響了她說話、站立和行走的能力。PFS 有時會在切除顱底(中樞神經系統重要部位所在之處)腦腫瘤的手術後發生。大多數患有 PFS 的兒童會逐漸好轉,並恢復語言和運動技能。 「我們眼睜睜看著一個精力充沛的孩子,變得無法行走、說話或書寫,當時我們非常焦慮,」Lucy 的母親 Yanli 說道,「但那時我們心裡想著,只要她還活著就足夠了。」   Lucy 隨後被轉介至 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®,並於 2023 年 12 月抵達入院,由兒科部主任 Amar Gajjar (MD) 進行治療。在 St. Jude,醫療團隊對 Lucy 的腫瘤進行了分子檢測(包括甲基化分析),確定了其腫瘤的組別與亞型:第 3/4 組,第 7 亞群。甲基化分析能讓醫師了解腫瘤的特徵,並針對顯微鏡下看似相同的不同腫瘤進行精準診斷。 ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Yanli 表示,她曾看過 St. Jude 針對 …
