Blue Line Service Disruptions Scheduled in May

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is alerting riders of continued service disruptions on the Blue Line in May to support station platform modifications to meet the height requirement for new low-floor light rail vehicles. Starting Thursday, May 7, 2026, SacRT will begin construction on two stations in the south area of the Blue Line.

A bus bridge (shuttle buses) will replace train service between 47th Avenue Station and Franklin Station from Thursday, May 7 through Friday, May 22, 2026. Closed stations include Florin, Meadowview and Morrison Creek.

The temporary shuttle buses will operate seven days a week during the service disruption. There will not be shuttle bus service at Morrison Creek Station for the duration of the construction shutdown, because the station is not accessible to buses. Riders are encouraged to use Meadowview or Franklin stations instead.

Crews will work on platform modifications at both Meadowview and Florin stations. To date, 17 stations have raised platforms on the Blue Line with 14 additional stations remaining before new low-floor trains can begin operating on the line, which is expected to begin in late 2027. The new low-floor light rail vehicles are currently operating on the Gold Line (between Sacramento Valley Station and Historic Folsom Station).

Shuttle Bus Schedule

All shuttle buses are accessible and operate every 20 to 30 minutes during regular service hours. They are not able to follow the train schedule due to surface street impacts, such as traffic. SacRT urges riders to allow extra travel time during construction periods.

SacRT also wants to remind riders traveling in stations that have raised platforms to watch their step and to always cross at the ends of the platform rather than in the middle for their safety.

SacRT appreciates the community’s understanding as crews complete this necessary work as it’s an essential step toward launching SacRT’s new low-floor light rail vehicles systemwide, which will offer faster boarding, platform boarding access, and a better experience for all riders.
