SacRT Green Line Light Rail Service Returns October 12

New 7th & Railyards Station to Open October 15

SACRAMENTO, CA — SacRT’s Green Line light rail service will return to service on Monday, October 12, 2026, following a more than yearlong suspension to accommodate major construction in the Railyards area.

The Green Line has been temporarily suspended since June 2025, while construction crews completed track and station work associated with the new 7th & Railyards Station and surrounding project site.

The return of Green Line service will restore direct light rail service to the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station in the River District, which serves the May Lee State Office Complex.

“The return of the Green Line is an important milestone for our riders and for the continued transformation of the Railyards and River District,” said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. “We appreciate our customers’ patience during this major construction project and look forward to welcoming them back aboard the Green Line.”

While Green Line service returns Monday, the new 7th & Railyards Station will officially open for passenger service on Thursday, October 15.

The new station, located at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard, will provide light rail access to the growing Railyards area and will become SacRT’s 55th light rail station.

Bus Route 11 Returns to Regular Service

Also beginning Monday, October 12, bus route 11 will return to its regular service plan.

During the Green Line suspension, SacRT increased weekday bus route 11 service to provide an alternative transportation option for riders traveling between downtown Sacramento and the Richards Boulevard area.

With Green Line service returning, that temporary expanded service will end and bus route 11 will resume its regular schedule.

The project represents a significant investment in improving transit access to one of Sacramento’s fastest-growing areas. Green Line service will again provide a direct light rail connection between the River District and downtown Sacramento, as well as connections to the broader SacRT light rail system.
