Stockton, CA—San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will provide free connections to any of the twelve San Joaquin County’s cooling centers on days when temperatures are forecasted to be 100 degrees or hotter and as long as they remain open. Complimentary trips are available on Local, Hoppers, and Van Go! services for those who need a ride to a cooling center.
Local and Hopper passengers should inform the bus operator that they are traveling to a cooling center upon boarding in order to ride at no cost. Van Go! is only available on a space-available basis, customers will need to call (209) 943-1111, option 3, option 1 to book a same-day reservation.
“It is not uncommon to experience heat soaring into the triple digits in San Joaquin County,” said RTD CEO Alex Clifford. “The close coordination with the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services allows RTD to quickly implement measures to assure the safety and wellness of our community.”
