The National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) and Self-Help for the Elderly are hosting a free event to assist Asian American and Pacific Islander elders review their current health insurance coverage. This is part of NAPCA’s ongoing effort to encourage elders to do an annual “checkup” of their health insurance.
Event details:
Date: November 2, 2022 (Wednesday)
Time: 2 – 3:30 pm (Registration: 1:30 pm)
Location: Lady Shaw Senior Center
Address: 1483 Mason St, San Francisco, CA 94133
There will be free multilingual assistance at the event.
Having an annual “checkup” may save an elder money as well as provide them with better health care coverage. That’s because over the years, health insurance companies change their prices, plans, and coverage. At the same time, a senior’s health care needs can change as well. What was a good plan three or four years ago may no longer be the best one today.
The best time to have that “checkup” is during Open Enrollment. For those on Medicare, Open Enrollment is October 15th – December 7th. For those under 65 and covered by a plan under Covered California, Open Enrollment starts November 1st and runs through January 15th.
Those Asian American and Pacific Islander elders who are unable to attend are strongly encouraged to call the toll-free NAPCA multilingual Senior Assistance Center for free individual assistance in finding and enrolling in the most suitable plan during these Annual Enrollment Periods.
The NAPCA Senior Assistance Center was set up specifically to help Asian American and Pacific Islander elders access health care. Since 2004, 250,000 elders have called the NAPCA Senior Assistance Center and received free enrollment assistance.
NAPCA offers in-language assistance through several toll-free helplines. For more information on the 2023 Open Enrollment period for Medicare and Covered California plans, elders and/or their caregivers may call:
