Auburn, California – April 20, 2023 – For the 92nd year, the world’s best cowboys and girls are converging on the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn to compete at the Gold Country Pro Rodeo, April 28 – April 30.
The rodeo again offers a full slate of ropin’, wrasslin’, and ridin’ events. But, this year’s rodeo also features two of the best non-competing performers in the business: half-time entertainer, Matt Merritt, and trick rider, Madison MacDonald.
In case you didn’t know there was a “half-time” in rodeo, you might recall the term “rodeo clown.” Matt Merritt is one of the reasons for the new term. Widely acclaimed for his dancing and humor, he brings a multitude of talents to the arena that not only distract angry bulls and broncs, but delight audiences of all ages, cowpokes or not.
Superstar Madison MacDonald is one the most accomplished Trick Riders in pro rodeo history. She’s been the Contract Act for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas an astonishing 10 times, starting at the ripe old age of 18! In addition to rodeo, Madison and her equine partners have worked on TV as stunt doubles as well as in shows for with world-renowned designer, Alexander Wang and Grammy Winning singer, Pepe Aguilar.
The Gold Country Pro Rodeo in Auburn is again produced by the Rosser family, a name that has become synonymous with quality rodeo production. The Rosser family has long been known for their outstanding rodeo productions, including the flamboyant opening ceremonies presented at the National Finals Rodeo, the Houston Livestock Show and the Grand National Rodeo in San Francisco just to name a few. Rodeo is show business as far as they are concerned. And as a result, the Rossers ALWAYS always bring a sense of pageantry and color that never fails to thrill and entrance their audiences.
And this year’s guest performers are just the latest in that tradition.
Says Darlene Lyons, whose company, EzEvents, Inc., has promoted the rodeo for the past 10 years, “The Gold Country Pro Rodeo is always a big event for the community. And with world class entertainers like Matt and Madison, this year promises to be even more thrilling and memorable experience for all who attend.”
