SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) will host the Chinatown Halloween Neighborhood Festival on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 11am PST to 3pm PST on Waverly Place between Sacramento Street and Washington Street. The event is sponsored by Invest in Neighborhoods (an Office of Economic Workforce Development initiative), Comcast, and Chinese Hospital and Clinics/Chinese Community Health Plan, and in partnership with Chinatown YMCA, LionDanceMe, and the Chinatown Merchants Association.
We invite the Chinatown community and all visitors to Chinatown and experience Waverly Place as it transforms into a fun-filled Halloween wonderland full of activities for all to enjoy. The exciting lineup of activities includes games, arts and crafts, pumpkin patch, lion dancing, scary room, creature crawl, balloon twisting, and painting with Marina Wang. We’ll also announce the winners of the photo and poster contests as contestants show off their creative spirit with the “Monster Party in Chinatown” theme.
This year there are over 30 Chinatown merchants who will be offering special discounts for the weekend (Saturday through Sunday). The discounts will be advertised through coupon books and will be distributed at the event to encourage visitors to patronize local businesses.
“The Office of Economic Workforce and Development is happy to support the Chinatown Halloween Neighborhood Festival again this year. Reimagining and activating Waverly Place to provide a festive atmosphere for the community to enjoy is a priority of our Invest in Neighborhoods initiative. The way the neighborhood is built, families and kids in Chinatown don’t get to experience a traditional Halloween, and this event is a great way for them to experience the holiday,” said Francis Chan, Office of Economic Workforce and Development Senior Program Manager.
Joann Chin, CCHP Product Marketing and Partnerships Manager said, “CCHP and Balance by CCHP are excited to sponsor this year’s CYC Chinatown Halloween Neighborhood Festival. We want to remind everyone that buying health insurance doesn’t have to be scary. Just contact CCHP for Medicare plans and Balance by CCHP for Covered California plans where you could qualify to receive financial help. CCHP, we are here to help. Call 1-888-371-3060.”
“Comcast supports and connects communities and we’re excited to be a sponsor of the Chinatown Halloween Festival again this year,” said Dillon Auyoung, Comcast Director of Government Affairs.
