SacSewer and Partners Celebrate Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Week with Video Showcasing Delta Regional Monitoring Program

SacSewer joins regional and state partners in celebrating Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Week and advancing collaborative science for water quality

Sacramento, Calif. — In recognition of Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Week, the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is celebrating the critical role of the Delta and highlighting the important work of the Delta Regional Monitoring Program (DRMP) with a video that showcases the program’s collaborative efforts.

Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Week, designated by Senate Concurrent Resolution 119, recognizes the Delta’s essential contributions to California’s economy, environment, and communities. As the largest estuary on the West Coast, the Delta is vital to the state’s water supply, agriculture, fisheries, and recreational resources.

The DRMP is a partnership of publicly owned treatment works, municipal storm water programs, irrigated agriculture, water suppliers, and state and federal agencies. The program conducts ongoing studies on water quality challenges such as mercury in fish, pesticide and nutrient impacts, harmful algal blooms, and emerging contaminants like PFAS. By sharing findings broadly and transparently, the program strengthens the ability of agencies and communities to take informed, effective action for the Delta’s health. A full list of partners can be found here.

“The strength of the Delta Regional Monitoring Program lies in its partnerships. By combining the expertise of agencies, industries, and conservation organizations, we’re able to collect high-quality data that informs sound decisions to protect water quality in the Delta,” said Christoph Dobson, general manager for SacSewer. “This video is an opportunity to highlight the value of the Delta Regional Monitoring Program and share its work with a broader audience. It’s a way to honor the Delta during Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Week and encourage more people to get involved in protecting it.”

The DRMP video, seen here, was created as an outreach tool to explain the program’s purpose, operations, and activities. It is designed to inform and engage both the regulated and regulator communities, as well as other stakeholders interested in Delta water quality issues. The video also provides updates on recent DRMP work to keep current stakeholders involved while encouraging new participation in this collaborative effort.

As a proud partner in the DRMP, SacSewer is committed to the shared responsibility to safeguard this vital resource and reaffirm our dedication to advancing science, supporting sustainable water management, and working with communities and partners to ensure a healthy, resilient Delta for years to come.
